Commissioned by Glenn Wilson in 2009, this ingenious mashup transforms “If I Only Had a Brain” through the musical lenses of “Giant Steps” and “Seven Steps to Heaven.” The rowdy big-band arrangement amplifies the source material’s humor with extensive metric modulation and quotations from other songs in The Wizard of Oz.
